A first appointment includes:

  • A specific and thorough exam to investigate musculoskeletal health and integrity

  • Posture and balance evaluation

  • Surface Electromyography to evaluate muscle tension around the spine, showing muscular compensation patterns for spinal disorders

  • If imaging is necessary, we will refer you for that service

After all crucial information is collected, Dr. Cestaro will discuss and review her findings. She will answer any and all questions, as well as determine a recommendation of care that is best for you.

  • Are chiropractic adjustments safe?
Chiropractic adjustments are extremely safe. In the medical field, risk is often compared within our malpractice rates. For example, the average malpractice rate for Obstetricians, Cardiologists, Orthopedists and Neurologists is reported at a minimum of $150,000 premium per year. Chiropractic premiums are reported as well under $5,000 per year. Recent studies have shown that patients take a greater risk of severe side effects from taking over the counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, such as ibuprofen.
  • Are chiropractic adjustments painful?
Chiropractic adjustments are designed to be safe, gentle and effective. Patients can, however, experience minor and temporary post adjustive soreness. No different than a child that has braces put on, each time those braces are tightened, the child may experience soreness from repositioning teeth. Minor soreness often ceases after the first few adjustments.
  • Once you start chiropractic care, you must continue forever?"
A patient can benefit from chiropractic care as much or as little as they choose. Often, patients decide to continue their chiropractic care past their initial injury or concern, due to the successes they experience. No different than going to the gym regularly, brushing your teeth, and eating healthy foods, the spine will work better when it is cared for.
  • Are chiropractors real doctors?
Yes. Chiropractic physicians complete a minimum of 4,200 hours of study, including classroom work, laboratory studies and internships, similar to allopathic medical physicians in their own specialties. Chiropractors are experts in the study of neuromuscular spinal conditions and their drugless treatment.
  • Do medical doctors approve of Chiropractic care?
Chiropractors have developed close relationships with several medical providers. With communication and trust, it is always in the patient’s best interest for their physicians to work together. Cestaro Chiropractic receives several referrals from local OB GYNs, Primary Care Physicians, Orthopedists, Neurologists and Physical Therapists.
